A short intro to me and who I am

I am going to try to keep track of some bigger thoughts I have through out the day and use this as a mode of saving these thought. There is no agenda for this, no blogging schedule, and no overarching theme. It is an experiment for myself to see whether this is something I want to do. Forewarning to any who happen to stumble upon this, this will be an extremely sloppy post. This is my first attempt at such an endeavor and is therefore sure to be lacking in many ways.

Today I thought I would talk about myself a little. Let's start with the the broad, simplistic view. I am a freshman in college with goals that I am unlikely to succeed in, but will fulfill anyway. I came from a small rural community where I learned a lot about how to live life slowly. I am a self titled intellectual of the science and math persuasion.

I say I am a college student, and that I have goals, but do not confuse that for me saying I know what I am doing. I willingly admit I have no clue what I am doing. Half the time I am in a daze and have no clue what is going on. I like that though. It's comforting to know that there is still so much to learn about. If I don't know something that is obvious to those around me, it means I have found a new topic to explore. I am constantly in pursuit of knowledge, but find myself lacking in the knowledge of who is who and what is going on in society right now.

I am an introvert. Do not get me wrong, I love being around people. The thrill of life and excitement of others is a welcome experience, most of the time. Despite the joy I take in the company of others, I find that I am much more prepared for the day and overall more energetic when I use the first hour and a half I am awake and the last hour before I go to sleep for myself. This alone time re energizes and prepares me to deal with the people I find vexing or irritating through out the rest of the day.

My major and interests in intellectual pursuits align in my love of robotics. Because of this passion I am currently pursuing a degree in Biomedical Engineering with plans to pursue a post-grad education in order to develop prosthetics. I have had plans to pursue such endeavors for many years now and do not foresee changing this decision, especially given the joy I take in my engineering classes over these last couple semesters.

Beyond science and math, I also greatly enjoy  reading. Despite being a legal adult, my favorite book genres remain steampunk, fantasy, science fiction, and dystopian. Some of my favorite series include  the Leviathan trilogy by Scott Westerfeld, The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel by Michael Scott, and The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness. I also enjoy movies and shows of these persuasion, along with other types. One of my favorite recently released movies is probably The Book Thief, but personal favorites include X-men and Men in Black. As for shows, I am a large fan of many anime series, but generally prefer the manga or light novels.

I guess this concludes my brief overview of the current me. I am sure I will reveal more about myself in the future, but As far as spur of the moment ideas and writings go, I do not believe this ended particularly horrendously. I hope to post again by the end of the week.
